Polliwogs
(3-4s)
The polliwogs begin the day with a greeting at the door from Mrs. Sergi. A short circle time includes hellos, songs, and an explanation of the activities available for the day. The children enjoy activities such as painting at the easel, dress-up, blocks, puzzles, books, and the climber. Mrs. Sergi also offers a variety of other choices each day at the art table, small manipulatives table, and water/sand table. The science table is always available, usually with articles pertaining to the week's theme or lesson. After clean-up, a second circle time includes a story, songs and finger plays. Snack time follows and outdoor playtime fills the last 15 minutes of class, weather permitting.
The polliwogs are taught by Anita Sergi, who has been a teacher at Northeast since 2001. Anita holds an M.S. in education and is a former Co-op mom!
