Kindergarten

Our kindergarten curriculum is similar to other schools, yet is enriched by many field trips and daily parental involvement. The children cook in the classroom each week, usually in conjunction with the letter of the week. A typical day is as follows: Greet Mrs. Roberts at the door and sign in, work at math, science and/or language arts centers, play educational games and more. This is followed by circle time where the calendar, weather, letter sounds, and other important items are discussed. After outdoors play comes story, snack, and journal writing. Mrs. Roberts models journal writing and then the children write in their journals on their own. The day concludes with indoor free play and a closing circle.

An optional extended day program is offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:00pm - 2:00pm beginning in October. The children eat lunch and work on a variety of enrichment activities. The cost for the extended day program is an extra fee not included in the tuition.

The kindergarteners are taught by Jerri Roberts. She has been our kindergarten teacher since 1985. She has a B.S. in education and all 3 of her children attended cooperative schools.
