Enter the church at the preschool entrance at the south end of the building. Park in the parking lot and
not in the street. Bring all children with you into the building. Do not leave any child in the car
unsupervised. Do not drop your child off at the curb or door. Bring children in and wait for the
classroom door to be opened by the teacher. This signifies that the classroom and teacher are ready to
begin class. The teacher will greet each child individually.

When you arrive to pick up your child, gather his/her artwork from their mat in the hallway. Remember
to check your folder. Retrieve your child from the playground or classroom and let the teacher know
that you are there to pick up. If you are carpooling, let your teacher know who will be picking up your
child. Remember to gather the artwork of the children that are in your carpool if you are picking up
other children.

Your child will be more comfortable if he/she can arrive on time to begin the day's activities and will
feel more secure knowing that you will pick up promptly.

Do Parents Stay?

Some parents may feel the need to stay for the first few days of school. If you feel like your child will
need you to stay, please do not bring other children with you. Each child adjusts in different ways and rates. Let your child linger near you until his or her interest draws him or her into the group. Do not worry during the first days of school if your child:

• is shy in the group
• stands around or wants to cling to you
• cries

Remember, watching is a form of participation. Let him or her stand and watch if that is what they
want to do. When you feel your child is ready to stay without you, tell them that you are leaving and
will come back. Almost all children will be comfortable in the classroom in a few weeks and will look
forward to coming to class.

What to Wear?

Children and participating parents should wear comfortable washable play clothes. Tennis shoes or
other rubber soled shoes are also suggested. The children spend the last part of class outdoors, so
please be sure to dress them appropriately (jackets for cool weather, winter coats, hats, gloves, and
boots for the cold and snowy days.) The children may wear their regular shoes on muddy or snowy
days and bring their boots to change into for outdoor play. You may want to label your children's
outerwear and boots.
